I'm not intimately familiar with how 1625's machine functions, but our hopper is a cavity and the rear of the robot that is lined with a length of rip-stop nylon fabric. That fabric forms a 'U', with one end fixed to the front of the robot and the other wrapped around a spool driven by two CIMs. We spool the fabric up rapidly and that 'U' becomes a '_' or, really, something closer to a '/'
It's not dissimilar to 20's robot or to any of the machines that lift the balls up from below -- 111 and 1280, for example.
