We had some similar symptoms with our drive motors this year when pushing them very hard, such as practicing with a loaded stretcher. We came to the conclusion we were just suffering from a warm, tired circuit breaker, usually on the backwards drill side. Letting things cool down and changing breakers usually solved the problem.
