Ken,

At KSC a reporter from the local NBC Station was there and I asked about how to pitch such an idea to the local stations and newspapers. His suggestion was don't approach it as a sporting event, rather take a local news angle.

Most newspapers would be willing to print the standings and maybe some stats of teams local to the event. If we can get them to do that, publishing the whole list of teams and their stats is the next step.

Essentially if we (or FIRST) gives the media a dump of the stats and standings in an acceptable format (whatever that may be) then they should print it and possibly do some extra side stories of some of the teams...

Once enough local papers get onboard then maybe we'll hit the national scene?! USA Today here we come.

Would you care to work together on assembling a presentation to take to a typical newspaper in order to get them to cover the standings? I'll also ping FIRST on the idea.

Hope this helps,

: I can't wait to see the league standings in the Oakland Press - wouldn't that be cool....
