Re: Mayhem In Merrimack 2009
This game was easily the most affected by the 2v2 change out of any other game (we have been running this competition since the introduction of 3v3 and every year we've ran 2v2 matches).
It opened up more space on the field for drives to do their stuff. It seemed like it was a lot more fun for the drivers because they got to do more and more fun for the spectators because more was happening.
I was on the edge of my hypothetical seat during the finals. We haven't seen a game change this dramatically from the 3v3 to 2v2 change and are very pleased that it worked out so well.
We were also very pleased by the reaction of team 131 when the final score was announced. It was as if they won the Chairman's Award at Championships. You don't get that kind of excitement at off-season events. It was certainly a pleasure to see them play so well.
I'd like to thank all of the teams for coming. I'd really like to see this event fill to capacity in the coming years. We keep doing our best to make this a fun, laid-back competition for everyone.
