If it didn't work for the entirety, Plan C would be to soon get the right tool, a Hex Set in this case right? Then you can accumulate tools one by one as you progress through college (conservatively in college of course since you'll be broke ). Eventually you'll have enough tools to build or fix your own <whatever>. Just last night while fixing the central air conditioning system in my townhome I used a hacksaw I bought in 1998 (9th grade) and a screwdriver set I got at a garage sale ($2 for the whole set!) at the start of my college senior design project.
