2009 IRI MENTOR CHALLENGE / CHARITY EVENT
THE IRI MENTOR CHALLENGE will be an elimination tournament of 12 “teams”, each consisting of three mentors and one student. This event will occur between the qualification matches and the elimination tournament of the IRI, after Alliance Selection.
The MENTOR CHALLENGE is meant to be a fun activity, a payback for students have been on the receiving end of “coaching” during matches, and a great way to raise some additional money for the IRI Charities. The entry fee and voting dollars will all go to the IRI Charities.
A MENTOR from an interested team must send an email to indicate interest.
pc@indianaroboticsinvitational.org. Teams that indicate interest must agree to participate if selected.
12 teams total in the MENTOR CHALLENGE. If more than 12 express interest, then there will be a random draw to determine the 12 competing teams. The team selection will be made and announced on June 22.
$100 entry fee – this entry fee goes to the IRI Charity. It can be sent in advance or brought to the event.
ALLIANCE SELECTION
Attending teams vote, with dollars, for the #1 alliance captain.
Voting will be Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning.
All donation voting dollars go to the IRI charities.
The Highest 4 voted teams are alliance captains.
Draft will be 1-4, 1-4.
Top 4 cannot pick themselves.
Teams cannot decline an invitation.
If a team breaks down (physically or emotionally) the remaining alliance teams must continue on – no substitutions allowed.
All IRI Rules Apply – There will be referees.
TOURNAMENT
Alliance 1 plays Alliance 4.
Alliance 2 plays Alliance 3.
Winners advance for the finals.
Winner is determined by winning 2 matches.
A TEAM is defined as 3 MENTORS and ONE STUDENT COACH.
A MENTOR is:
- An Active volunteer on an FRC Team
- AND must have graduated from high school during or before December 2008.
A STUDENT COACH is:
A Team Member who graduated / graduates from high school in January 2009 or later.
