Off seasons are a great time to explore, experiment, experience, and express. It is very cool.

Just an .02
thats my favorite part about the offseason my team (1529) and 829 host. We call it CAGE Match. Cards And Goats Exhibition Match. It is a low key event much lesser than IRI. only around 24 teams. The first CAGE was last october and there is another CAGE Match coming up this october. Whats great about offseason events is you can have fun and try your best with out the stress or worry of trying to win. (there shouldn't be stress at a regional either!) But offseason events make it easy for people new to robotics and FIRST to see what is it about. I have noticed at off season events people are at more ease because of the low tension and therefor open up to people. 1529 is going to mentor a team this upcoming year and a few of their new members came to the IRI. The event gave them a great chance to see what goes on at a FIRST competition.

only downside is, if IRI is your first event, the boiler maker regional is slightly boring
