The NBC affiliate in Atlanta just covered Kell Robotics making a public appearance with their trash collecting robot.
You can see the video
here
The anchor referred to the team collecting 'ton's of debris. Figuratively so, NOT literally. Another mistake was a mis-reading of the press release. Kell built this robot and Westminster is running the battery recycling effort with Call2Recycle.
All of this activity is in preparation for the Sir Paul McCartney concert in a few days that will benefit the Piedmont Park Conservancy.
If you are in Atlanta you can drop off batteries to recycle at the Westminster Wiredcats / Call2Recycle booth prior to the concert.
And trash eating bot will be running all day long until about concert time. You can stop by the Kell booth to learn more about how the students of FIRST are applying the skills they learn in FIRST to solve real life problems.
The official press release is
here
If we are super lucky maybe Sir Paul will give a 'shout out' to FIRST ???
edit - This control system is a recycled IFI system from a few years back. Another item we use are the famous 'van door motors'. We need to get our hands on a few more van door motors and we are also looking for a couple of the IFI usb-chicklets that were available a couple of years ago. Send me a message if you have something you don't need and can give up. Thanks
