The inside wall is 16.5, true, but it sits onto of aluminum piece that is 1.5" tall. In addition to this, there's some plywood that subtracts from the height, and some aluminum plate. All said and done, the CAD model (that I constructed from official FIRST plans) says 17.75 tall.

By the way, if someone wants a CAD of the center field pieces (tower, tunnel, bumps) give me a PM and I'll email them to you. (Solidworks 09)
