Cool Re: Deadlock

Yes, our meetings are very argumentative also. Just today, we have formulated our strategy. We though of the pneumatic piston idea, and came up with a conclusion. Because we are driving the robot with the ball in front of us, there is no direct need for a piston. We may have a ramp to collect balls, if our alliance mates cannot score.

I disagree with using tank treads because there is so much surface area to cover with the treads, it is going to be very hard to turn (Even with tank drive). A good drive train which have pretty much mastered is the 6-wheel drop. This is a system with three wheels on each side (3 on the left, and 3 on the right). This is controlled by chain, the middle directly from the tranny and the other four with chain. At any time, the 6-wheel robot with the drop is only driving on four wheels, usually the front four. This allows for a smaller turning radius, allowing easier turning. Something to take into consideration is getting over the ramp.

I would love to help you guys or answer more questions if needed, just contact me through a PM. I would suggest making something robust and adaptable. This has been key to our design.
