Match Seeding Points

9.3.4 Match Seeding Points
All teams on the winning ALLIANCE will receive a number of seeding points equal to the penalized score (the score with any assessed penalties) of the winning ALLIANCE.
All teams on the losing ALLIANCE will receive a number of seeding points equal to un-penalized score (the score without any assessed penalties) of the winning ALLIANCE.

9.3.5 Coopertition™ Bonus
All teams on the winning ALLIANCE will receive a coopertition bonus: a number of seeding points equal to twice the un-penalized score (the score without any assessed penalties) of the losing ALLIANCE.
In the case of a tie, all participating teams will receive a coopertition bonus of a number of seeding points equal to twice their ALLIANCE score (with any assessed penalties).

I know that a lot of people probably don't like this, some might but that doesn't really matter, FIRST choose to do it and its probably going to stay.

However I see a major flaw with the system. The Losing alliance can score more seeding points than the winning one Example: Match end Red winning 10 to 0 and got one penalty for pushing 2 balls at once. The Red alliance would get 10 points (their final score) and a Coopertition bonus of 0.
The Blue alliance would get 11 seeding points (the un-penalized score). So Blue the losing alliance gets more points than the winning alliance.

This should be changed. It makes the best strategy to score no points and hope the other team gets a penalty.*

*the best strategy is to actually plan to tie every match but that is really hard to make happen so in the long run scoring against yourself is best.

Regardless of these details we still talking about the best strategy to winning a regional is to play to tie and lose not win. That should be changed in my opinion.

I'd like to see other peoples comments on this and how best to approach FIRST as a community to change this. I didn't really see many problems with the system from last year. Maybe some one could point out that advantages over that system.
