What do you mean by "went into driver mode"?
If you're deploying the code using the Classmate, logging off the Developer account stops all running programs. Unless you told the cRIO to run the code at startup and rebooted it, the code will not be running.
The proper thing to do is run the Driver Station program while still logged on as Developer.
