Are you using CMS's like Joomla or just coding yourself with Dreamweaver or what?
Just curious. Thanks.

1816 is currently running Drupal 6 with an extensive custom theme. I wrote the theme files by hand using Coda and Dreamweaver. It was rebuilt from scratch this summer. Most dynamic elements (I mean this as visual "flair" not server technology) on the pages are handled by some original JQuery code and some JQuery plugins (Lightbox2 and Superfish). The site is pretty much complete with a few content updates planned this March.
(Digging up an old conversation) I tend to stay away from Flash for a few reasons, one being that I don't know how to use it very well and also because site built entirely out of Flash are in my experience very very slow (Have you visited Adobe's site recently?

), at least on my G5 iMac. It's important to remember that not everyone uses modern hardware and browsers. The percentage of people visiting the 1816 site using IE6 is still around 20%. Who knows how old/new those computers are? It makes it difficult to construct a website that works on every browser but it can be done.
