For what it's worth, the CPU overhead is about 4% before I open the DS application, so I suspect that it's not other applications running in the background that are causing the problem. [To use the parlance of the day.] I've got WU turned off on this laptop for exactly this reason.
Do you see any difference in processor utilization based on which tab on the DS is selected?
