My opinion is that any one alliance is allowed to follow any strategy within the rules that will maximize their chance of winning or seeding higher. There is no rule against doing nothing, defending your own goal or scoring for your opponent regardless of the intent behind the strategy.
Has the general FIRST community finally cracked the lid on Pandora's box here?

Will it ever collectively understand what the seeding point system means, and how it affects match strategy in quals?

We're a big step closre now that 1 week qualifications are almost over, but I'm interested in seeing how teams react tomorrow morning, knowing that many will want to have a big "seeding points push" to gain some spots. I see a few lightbulbs turning on...

I think most moderately serious strategy teams have fleshed this one out, but I can't imagine what would happen if the majority of teams went into a regional willing and able to execute this strategy.

I barely know what I'll do if we're faced with an alliance that does this to us...

Actually... that's a lie. I know exactly what I would do, and it kind of annoys me.
