When we realized the scoring going on, we (234) tried to score for red, but were pretty heavily defended. That was actually smart for the red, because we were also in the chase for the top 8, and so keeping out seeding points the same gain as theirs kept them ahead of us.
We did a similar strategy in an earlier match, but for different reasons. As an alliance, we knew we would be outgunned, so we decided to score for the other alliance from the start. But it ended with a very low scoring match because the other alliance began to heavily defend us after we scored the first goal for them.

Quick question, because the winning alliance was penalized were you awarded 13 points where the losing alliance was awarded 14? I thought this was the correct interpretation of the rules, just not sure if I've got that straight.
