In 2008,
Tonya Scott, mentor for FRC 476, garnered the Volunteer Award and the regional Woodie Flowers Award. FRC 476 won the Chairman's Award. All of this happened at the inaugural OKC Regional. I was there to participate in the event and to witness the award ceremony. It was spectacular.
Tonya deserved those awards and if your coach garnered both of those, then you, your team, your coach, the regional, and everyone involved, has much to be proud of and to celebrate. Each of the awards come with much blood, sweat, tears, and joy.
I still marvel at the inaugural OKC Regional, the efforts of everyone involved to make it a fun and memorable event, and of the celebration of Tonya as a representative of can-do attitude and creating opportunity.
Congratulations to your coach!
