Re: What was your role each year on your team?
2007: Sophomore year; Webmaster, media team, mascot.
This was my first year. I just started late at this new school, and heard a morning announcement regarding a meeting for a robotics team. Interesting. I attended, viewed the prior year's animation video, got hooked ever since.
2008: Junior year; Webmaster, media team, mechanical team, drive team, mascot.
At this point, I did more with the media than the actual robot, but I begin to work with the hand/power tools. Most of my regional time was taking photos and running around in the bearcat suit.
2009: Senior year; Webmaster, lead media. Volunteered at the Buckeye regional.
Not much, really. I stood back that year. We had great seniors leading the programming and mechanical divisions, so I figured I'd have fun and do whatever after finishing the website.
2010: Mentor, webmaster, programmer and programming mentor, t-shirt designer, drive coach, fundraising, events planning/management, recruitment.
My first non-student year, so I had a lot of free time. We had zero programmers this year. One of them graduated, the other (a senior this year) had work too often to help. The programmer role was sort of thrown onto my plate at the last minute (read: Kick-off). We also lost our robotics/metal/wood shop teacher due to budget cuts, and he managed some of the other roles listed here, so myself and our lead engineer (who is the school-appointed team leader) had to split a few of those roles. The sudden changes were a bit overwhelming, but we're pretty strong right now, especially with more school/district support now.
We've been a relatively small team since I've been involved, so I've always had to pull multiple roles. It's really not as bad as it sounds, though.
