That's a gutsy thing to say. Winamp 2.7.6 is the most stable mp3 player ever. Tons and tons of people will tell you that.
Sonique, on the other hand, tends to eat much of your processing power. I call that useless.
Currently, I use
Winamp 3 for my audio files. I was thinking of going back to 2.8 because the CPU usage is a bit high, but the new features are nice. For video files, I use
BsPlayer. It's a nice video player with support for divx, among other formats. Low CPU usage and an easy interface... not bloatware like WMP.
