I think it has been proven over and over again that a well designed 6/8 wheel drive train is as fast and maneuverable as mecanum. It surprises me every year that more and more teams seem to be going with mecanum designs. Mecanum wheels make for a cool demo bot (especially if you can translate and rotate simultaneously) but we are yet to see a game where they offer a real advantage (I do think they could have been a good option in this years vex game).
