Between RPI teams 20 and 250, and non-RPI-but-still-awesome 2791, there's plenty of ways to get involved with a FIRST team if you so choose. Look at other stuff first though, unless you have a particular interest in mentoring.

Also RPI teams 1493 and 1665 (1493 is the team RPI is most involved with, followed by 1665) 20 and 250 mentors from RPI are usually Alumni from those two teams. 1493, and 1665 actively look for mentors on campus.
