All of the setup on the bridge HAS to be done before the settings are modified from factory defaults on the router. Once the settings on the bridge are finished (the have to be done in the order in the instructions), the bridge cannot communicate with the router until the router is setup completely.

If you are trying to apply wireless security settings or IP changes to the router, you always need to apply the settings on the bridge first, otherwise once the router updates you can't access the bridge.

Also, while setting up the router, I took an extra step and created a G network of the same name as the N network. This lets me connect the classmate wirelessly, but the bridge was having trouble connecting until I did this.

Also, are you sure the bridge is the problem? Occasionally the DS doesn't properly update its IP and needs to be manually changed.
