I'll go ahead and clarify things a bit here.
After my family got out of college this year, we took a short family trip up to the Niagara Falls region and St. Catharines. Upon hearing about this, 1114 graciously offered me a tour of their school's shop. For an hour, instead of paying too much for tourist attractions the next town over, I got a student-guided tour of 1114's shop and robots past and present. (I don't know where the mentors were hiding, but not in the shop...)
It was a very inspiring experience, but not quite in the way you'd think. Without going into every detail, I can just say it's apparent 1114 is the product of pure dedication, hard work, and strong leadership rather than ridiculous resources. That's the magic of the Simbot program. I wish I could engage student leaders like they do. Must be a Canadian thing.
(Now I just have to convince my family to vacation in Greenville, TX!
