i've tried to learn some linux, and i've gotten pretty far (for me). i actually installed a couple of distros, settled (for now at least) on debian, got xwindows to work, got a bunch of programs i would use (web browsers and the such), and most importantly SAMBA. so now i have a pentium pro 200 Mhz computer running debian, with a 120 gig HD acting as a second file server on my home LAN. (yes, i did say second. the first one got full. 40 gigs just wasn't enough

). after i got that set up i kinda left it. it's been on almost non stop for a while now. never crashes, just keeps on going. my windows server (the first file sharing server) needs a reboot at least once a month, usually closer to once every week or two.
if i get some free time i'm going to dig up an old hard drive, or delete some stuff on my windows one, and install linux on my "play" computer. i want to see how it works on a slightly better computer

.
