I personally hate 3ds max with a burning passion. It works wellish if it is running on a system that is qualified to run it but on any of the school computers it just bugs out like a termite mound with a firecracker in it. I have since discovered Maya which I LOVE! While there is a debate in the professional animation community which is better but the general consensus is in favor of Maya. Maya works much better on an under qualified system and I think the interface is miles better. I posted a thread about helping teams get started with Maya a fair bit earlier.
