It depends on the song and label now. Certain record labels allow their content on YouTube as long as their song is linked to with one of those floating adverts that appear under the video automatically.
Optionally, you can file a fair use claim. A video I posted featured 30 seconds of Enter Sandman in the background as ambient music which was automatically removed. I argued that the educational purpose of the video (FIRST Robotics Competition) combined with the short sample of work unremovable from the video's audio track did not compromise the label's ability to sell the song, and my claim was accepted. This usually takes a few days though.
