Re: Role of Team Captain

At this point, our captains are actually guaranteed not to be a driver. There are so many things going on at the competitions that it is difficult for a captain to be in the position where they are focused on the matches, the judges, and general team operations. It is a completely different story if your team is small, but for larger teams, why not spread around the wealth? We want as many kids as possible to have as much as possible to write on the college apps. Consequently, when it comes to the competition, we try not to overlap the positions of driver, captain, lead programmer, pit manager, etc.

It is very important though that everyone understands this going into the season and they can pick and choose which positions they want to be involved with.
This way, not only is everyone involved to a larger extent, but they will be required to mesh and work as a team and no one person has to be overburdened.
