Macs don't suck. They're just different, and that scares people. I started on an Apple IIe (which I still use), moved to a performa 630, got a mac laptop (don't remember the model), and then got my first PC. Even though the PC was over "twice" as fast, in terms of Mhz, it was still about the same in practice as the laptop. I then built my own PC, which more-or-less blows everything else I've ever owned away.
Anyway, in the entire time I've owned all these, I've only had to re-install MacOS from scratch once, and that was after my mom brought home a virus from work on a floppy. On the otherhand, I have done a complete fdisk/format/install of windows at least four times that I can remember, and I've only been using PCs for about 1/3 as long! Even Linux, which I now use almost exclusively, has issues, especially with old hardware. With a Mac, I know that anytime I plug something in, it will work. That's the reason why I told my grandpa to get one of the new iMacs instead of a PC. They are far simpler, more reliable, and easier to get up-and-running. Besides, iPhoto, iDVD, and iMovie are almost worth the price by themselves!
