It looks like people are missing what I was trying to convey.

1) I was particularly responding to David's post.
2) The NFL comparison was to put it in terms that others would understand (and especially those from football backgrounds).
3) I did say, did I not, that if the goal was to be in the NFL, that it was met by being on a practice squad for a bad team as well as by being a starter for a better team?

Being in the inspiration game is like being in the NFL. It doesn't matter if you're practice squad on the worst team in the league or the starting quarterback on the best team, you're still in the NFL. Sure, you'd rather be a starter, but compared to not playing at all, being on the practice squad still works. Same for inspiration--you're there, but you'd rather be able to be better/bigger/more X.
