It's a great start!
I do agree that the chainlink is a bit distracting. I do, however, really like the idea of having team pictures in the background. Maybe you can focus on that. While the logo on the homepage is also god, you should decide whether you want to have that or the team pictures- having both is a bit distracting as well.
On your homepage, you might also want to include your team number and a reference to FIRST (whether it be by writing "FIRST TEAM___" or by including the FIRST icon). Include a introduction to your team- just a few sentences on who you are and what you do. Maybe have the name of your school appear somewhere as well- at the bottom of the page? (This will help people locate you and also potential sponsors find a way to contact you).
I really like the idea of having a bit of personal information about each member- that's a great idea!
I also agree that the "Helpful Links" tab should be on the top bar.
It can be helpful to look through the websites of award-winning teams to get an idea of common attributes.
