We too participated in Canada FIRST years ago.
At that time we had a 6 week build period after a Jan 1st kickoff.
The kit was a joke. The controller was garbage...(It really was)
The competition was fun but plagued with technical interuptions due to the "rc controllers" shuting down regularly during the 2 min heat. Give me a break. An RC controller for a model airplane would have been better. Not to mention the $8000 entry fee.
At the 2nd kickoff we were told that the controller problems were solved and that the event was going to be better that the previous year. It wasn't and It wasn't.
So that pretty much killed my ambition for going back for a third time, not to mention that we never even got a invitation to register again. Go figure. Get the picture.
Then last year the Director of the Canadian Regional US-FIRST Competition gave me a call and personally visited me. He convinced me to put a team together and join the US FIRST family.
