It replaces both the router and the bridge. Rookie teams did not receive a router. The control system manual available from the KOP website (
http://usfirst.org/frc/kitofparts) shows the DAP-1522 being configured as an access point. The DAP-1522 goes on the robot, and the classmate connects directly to it wireless.
