What, exactly, are you hitting with the mallet, and what are you trying to accomplish by doing so? Example: We're hitting the axle bolts with the mallet to get them through the bearings on the wheel.

EDIT: Feel free to snap a picture of the offending part and post it in the thread. It might be quicker than explaining.
