This summer our technical mentor had us CAD a West Coast Drive which was due in 2-3 weeks. Part of the training process was to use plane mates and more complex tools so that the quality of the CAD was much better.

Furthermore, we usually have veteran CADders do one on one with people who want to learn which from my experience is the best way to at least give those with zero experience a basis to do a project like a WCD or some kind of mechanism for the robot.

If I had to guess for this year, we're probably going to have vetern CADders teach the rookies the basics (like extrude cuts, boss/base, drawing, schematics, symmetry, etc.) and then have them do some kind of CAD project.
