I don't know about the 12 people 3 years thing. Dean came to Georgia Tech in the Spring of this year to try and get a regional hosted by Georgia Tech. It went through all the channels from the President down and the decision was made that we could not have it a Tech this year.
We were very disappointed, but a couple of months after that FIRST ended up getting a place and we are now having our very own Atlanta Regional (Yeah!!!!)
Its great! The college students on the GT team are getting to work with the regional coordinator in the planning and organization of the entire regional. I have always wanted to be behind the scenes. This is great!!!
Maybe the same thing will happen with you guys in Cornell. hopefully you can hold it at the university.
