I REALLY like Krispy Kremes when they are hot and oozing with their goodness... however, the nearest Krispy Kreme is almost an hour and a half drive from here... so, they aren't easy access..... however, In a nearby town (about a 30 min drive from here)... fellow teammates live there, and they have a new bakery... mmm, Endless Mountains Bakery... almost exactly like Krispy Kreme...

I would have to go with Dunkin Donuts for the more well known variety... and much easier access being its about 3 miles from the shop.

Those of you non-bakers may not understand, but hey, there"s always a chance...
The point of a pastry (such as doughnuts) is to provide something with a large amount of sugar and large air pockets with the entire structure remaining stable and edible (sounds like robotics - drill as many holes as possible without making the robot break in half). Krispuy Kreme fulfills this perfectly and even provides them fresh, so they are wonderful. The doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts are much more diverse, but they are much closer to being bagels than doughnuts. They are very thick and dense (good for dipping, but very bad without a drink) which may appeal to some people"s tastes, but Kripsy Kremes are much truer doughnuts (this is really asking for a well-documented scientific study).

and thus...Krispy Kreme is the winner!

I must vote for the Kremes, because I only care about one doughnut: Custard-filled.

When looking at custard-filled doughnuts, I have never found anything to compare with Krispy Kreme. (Although, I haven't yet tried the local Kreme competition, Lamar's)

Wait, the big-$@#$@#$@#, conglomerate corporation that OWNS the donut world--the Microsoft of donuts for crying out loud--are the good guys?

Hmm... maybe you wouldn't be so fat if it didn't take six donuts to fill you. And why is the opening of a store that looks like the other ten thousand an event, I ask? Do they have more than ten different kinds of donuts there or something?

This is true- a KK opened recently in a neighboring town (Milford) from where I work (Fairfield). Traffic was backed up for 2 miles with a line of people that spread well accross the large plaza parking lot, all wishing the grandeur of delectable doughnuts. I heard there was some sort of promotion- where the first customer of the newly opened shop would recieved 1 year of donuts free.
