2001 Robots
I was thinking...There seems to be many game similarities between this year's game and that of 2001. It also seems that many of the bots from 2001 would function very well in this situation. What is y'alls opinion? Have you tried stacking or maneuvering on the ramp with your 2001 bots? If so, how did they do?

We did not use our 2001 to test anything out but we were joking around and we had come up with an idea that if this years bot did not get done it would be nice to have the 2001 bot to ship it out, if not then we were thinking about sending the 2000 bot out, we had a stacker that year for the balls!

Wouldn't it be better to make a new robot from some of the ideas of the 2001 robot (like going up the ramp, speed/manuverability) instead of adding on to it though?

Yes, and that's exactly what we did. We applied a lot of the lessons that we had learned onto this year's bot, but, the point that I am trying to make is that a robot from 2 years ago could be very competitive without any mods.

My team used the 2001 bot to practice driving because it has the same kind of drive system as we are using this year. It actually worked really well. But then it broke! lol so now we are working on fixing it.

the way we look at our 2001 robot we think that it could stack at least 7 high it has a good drive system. we think that it could have been a real contender this year.

Our 2001 bot didn't even play the 2001 game that well... anyways, its electronics are in pieces, so we haven't tried anything with it. Our 2000 and 2002 bots have seen some action, though. The 2002 bot has the same drive as our 2003 bot, but it's too low to go up the ramp. The 2000 bot, though, is perfect for testing.

Hehe... I finally got our team to pull the computer off of Tippy, our 2001 bot. We fried the 2002 RC, so we needed a new one, and we just pulled Tippy's. We never even tried to use it. It probably would've just fallen over.

Our 2001 bot also really didn't play the game too well, (but it did win a regional
) It was used for some testing on the ramp and it did really well, it'll be at IRI...competing or not. Jari II and me (its sideways) |

We used our 2001 robot to test this years game. Heck, we use our 2001 robot for everything!

we used the 2001 bot to do some simple tests hitting the stacks. we used to use it for everything untill we entered it in bash 2002 last october
how many of you can say you've entered your 2001 bots in an off-season last year and it seeded 5th of 24 |

We can't say that, but I can say that our 2002 robot was completely dismantled :-)

Ack! our robot in 2001 was meant to move goals! Where are the goals??!??!...or for that matter where is the stretcher.?

Hrm... can I re-interject how much I hate our 2001 bot... I despise its very existence... or lack thereof... YES!
