Week XI Post-Game Analysis

R.I. Electrons (4-6) d. Your Team Name (6-3-1)
The first of five teams eyeing that number eight spot, the Electrons' hope seemed lost after the Chiefs got bungled in Cincinatti, only letting Priest Holmes pull in 6. More hope seemed lost when Holmes was R.I.'s only scoring RB, and only one of their WRs scored (a 2). A combined 21 in receiving by YTN looked to finish off the commissioner for the season. Even a miserable 7 at QB for YTN looked hopeless. Rhode Island's only shining star was Seattle with 21... until Monday. Down by 16, the the Electrons got their miracle in the form of Tommy Maddox. Against the run-centric San Francisco defense, he was able to score 33, and pull the Electrons out of the fire, and into top contention for that number eight spot.

Dunedain(5-2-3) d. Koko's X-Cats (6-4)
134-75
From top playoff contender to midcard in a few short weeks, the X-Cats looked to be on the rebound after a disappointing game last week. Then, they ran into the underrated Dunedain. Hard. Really, only Green Bay was able to provide a better-than-average score with 17. But with two defenders having 0, and single digit scores everywhere else, the Cats were sitting ducks against a Dunedain charge including Brian Westbrook's 25, and Terrell Owens with 17. Even without the defense's 56, Dunedain is now officially either top of the middle, or bottom of the top (and I mean that in a good way), and the X-Cats are now in that afforementioned number eight spot.

-To Be Determined-(5-5) d. Hurricanes (4-6)
92-68
The next two of those five teams on the ball for that number eight spot took stage in a battle likely to determine (no pun intended) the fate of these two teams. A spectacular 23 from Atlanta got TBD into the early lead, and they never looked back. A combined 21 running put them farther in the lead, and with no QB and four other zeros, the Hurricanes had, barring a miracle from God (and he already interfered on the Electrons' behalf, so he was probably all miracled out), no chance of a comeback. Granted, Miami and Phillip Buchanon came through with 17 each. Even then, there was no shot. TBD is now lingering in playoff contention.

Cooney Quest (5-4-1) d. Scrawny White Guys (2-8)
102-96
In playoff contention, but still needing a win, Cooney looked upon Tim Rattay for 38. It looks like the Guys took my subliminal messageing about Doug Flutie last week. Unfortunately, he was a week late, with the QB only taking 2 (on a two-point conversion, nonetheless). Let's be fair though: that combined 42 in receiving and Shaun Alexander's 14 played well for the White Guys (::runs::). Cooney had nothing else spectacular. But they only had one leak on the team, and it all coalesced into enough points to move them into a better playoff contention, and to mathematically eliminate the Scrawny White Guys from the playoffs.

29 Patriots(2-8) d. Nor Cal Crushers (3-6-1)
83-73
Really, all this one came down too was the QB battle. Or lack thereof in the Crusher's case. David Carr only scored 2. Meanwhile, the Patriots had Marc Bulger score 37, plenty for a victory, keeping their slim playoff hopes at least alive.

ValleyGirls (9-1) d. Bane (3-6-1)
120-76
"Bane is hurting. His best weapon Marvin Harrison is injured. Corey Dillion is out and fuming and the Valleygirls come a callin'. This isn't gonna be pretty." Yeah... Ed was right, it wasn't pretty (one psychic point to Ed ). While Cleveland had an okay day with 19 on Bane's side, a 10 in QB summed up Bane's day. Led by a Daunte Culpepper 30, the ValleyGirls easily clinced their playoff birth.

CB234(8-2) d. Chesapaeke Cruisers(5-5)
116-90
The forth team locking on to that number eight spot had a tough match against CB. The QB battle looked in Chesapeake's favor 24-14. Unfortuantely, there was nothing else to help them. CB had a terrible QB score, but picked it up in running with 33 and receiving with 27. Having only one donut, CB was also able to clinch a playoff birth. The Cruisers are now in the middle of their hunt for eighth.

Philly Cheesesteaks (9-0-1) d. Snowballs (3-7)
122-103
With the first guaranteed playoff spot in the league, Philly didn't have to field any players. They could lose the rest of their games, and still have a shot at the championship. They did win, you know. But it was probably, ney, it was in the best game this week. The Snowballs had great performances from Chad Pennington (33), Ahman Green (12), Torry Holt (20), and Tennesee (14). But sadly, they were playing Philly. And a great game wasn't able to outdo a 41 from Manning, and an excelent defensive presence.

Pinman(2-8) d. Coco's Monkeys (5-5)
111-97
The last of the five teams in search of the number eight looked to take advantage of the bottom of the barrel. And until Monday night, it looked like a possiblilty for the Monkeys to win their fifth straight. Led by Trent Green's 46, it looked like the Monkey's were going to hold the eight spot. But not this time. Pinman was led by Matt Hasselback scoring 37, and enough conglomeration put them down by 5 until Jerome Bettis scored 10 Monday. Ahmed Plummer scored 9 on Monday, and Pinman didn't look back at placing the Monkey's on the bottom of the eight hunt.
