Ok ill be at Long Island and the Champs,
Ive contacted the ARRL for buttons and stuff but they dont give out that sort of stuff,
Any ideas on stuff we could hand out?
Any ideas on that call sign?
Anyone want to set up a base station at the nats?

-I was reading in last years manual and it says that walkie-talkies are not allowed at event sites, is this that same this year? Does it effect hams?

Hi All,
I have been considering bringing an FT 817 so VHF or UHF are OK with me. (Although I have never had a radio for those bands until now. I need help!)
Good Luck to all,

Anybody consider a net on 20 meters on the weekend, let everyone check in and say hi?
Say Sunday afternoons?

Still no good for us techs, we are limited to all bands above 6m, but others that can should meet on the 10m frequency said before if they want.

Not True RebAl,
I picked 10M because you do have voice privledge from 28.3-28.5MHz. I have never operated in net before so this will be a first for me. But anyone who can let's meet up @28.400 if it's busy lets slide down in 5kHz chunks till an open frequency. If you have a radio, see you there.

Only Tech Plus (w/ morse code) can operate below 50mhz

as per ARRL:

Hams enter the hobby as Technicians by passing a 35-question multiple-choice examination. No Morse code test is required. The exam covers basic regulations, operating practices, and electronics theory, with a focus on VHF and UHF applications.

Technician Class operators are authorized to use all amateur VHF and UHF frequencies (all frequencies above 50 MHz). Technicians who pass a 5 WPM Morse code examination are entitled to limited power outputs on certain HF frequencies. "Technicians with HF" may operate on the 80, 40, and 15 meter bands using CW, and on the 10 meter band using CW, voice, and digital modes.

I agree, read last sentence again...
"and on the 10 meter band using CW, voice, and digital modes." (or are you saying you have an old Tech Plus ticket?)This has been a privledge enjoyed by novices for many years and I took advantage of that as a novice. Luckily my trusty HW-101 (built by me, I might add) did cover 28.3-28.5. It's a great DX band when it's open, too. Gave me my first SSB DX to South America, South Africa and to a United States Marine in Guantanomo Bay, Cuba.
If you are operating at a school station and would like to set up a sched for during the week after school let me know, I can get home by 3 CST most days.
There was no one on frequency today but let me know what you want to do.

Yeah, you need a tech plus, the thing is that tech dosent need morse and the fcc felt it should operate on freqs that normally have a high volume of phone. A cw test gets you privlidges bleow 50mhz, such is our delima Novice however does not have as many high freq privlidges as a tech but it has the low bands.

Hopefully there are some hams that can talk with you, not sure how many in first.

good luck-

Will any hams be at the LI regional???
