Guessing closed
We're getting close, but the doc says that it's probably going to be delivered past the due date. So, all of your early date pickers are most likely out of luck.
I had one pick via email. Kristen Kelso put in this guess: Girl, July 9, 8:15pm, 7 lbs. even We're getting too close, so no more guesses will be taken at this time. I'll let you all know how things went as soon as I can after the delivery... or I'll have Kyle, Clark or Molly post something for me. Thanks for your support and prayers, Andy B. |

Still in the running...
When I saw the new post I thought it was all over and I lost. But what you said is good news for us who picked late dates. I hope everything goes well.

I just recieved a phone call from Andy Baker saying that today (July 12, 2001) at 1:27 his wife had their baby! The baby is a girl and her name is Lucy Melissa Baker. She weighs in at 8 lbs. 10 oz. and she is 19 1/2 in.
Andy also said Mary is fine and the whole family is doing fine.. Also Andy said he thinks he knows who the winner is and he will take care of everything when he has time. -Congrats from the Gilbert family- |

For Lucy ;)
Thanks to the HistoryChannel.com, we now know that Lucy is destined to be a FIRST-er....in 1982 "Eye of the Tiger" was on the top of the charts
![]() Actually, no matter what, I know she'll be great! (though it would be great if you recruited all your girls for the RCU ::winkwink::...but thats all in good time) **This Day in History - July 12** **1862 Medal of Honor created President Abraham Lincoln signs into law a measure calling for the awarding of a U.S. Army Medal of Honor, in the name of Congress, "to such noncommissioned officers and privates as shall most distinguish themselves by their gallantry in action, and other soldier-like qualities during the present insurrection." The previous December, Lincoln had approved a provision creating a U.S. Navy Medal of Valor, which was the basis of the Army Medal of Honor created by Congress in July 1862. The first U.S. Army soldiers to receive what would become the nation's highest military honor were six members of a Union raiding party who in 1862 penetrated deep into Confederate territory to destroy bridges and railroad tracks between Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia. In 1863, the Medal of Honor was made a permanent military decoration available to all members, including commissioned officers, of the U.S. military. It is conferred upon those who have distinguished themselves in actual combat at risk of life beyond the call of duty. Since its creation, during the Civil War, almost 3,400 men and one woman have received the Medal of Honor for heroic actions in U.S. military conflict. **1984 Ferraro named vice presidential candidate Walter Mondale, the leading Democratic presidential candidate, announces that he has chosen Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate. Ferraro, a daughter of Italian immigrants, had previously gained notoriety as a vocal advocate of women's rights in Congress. Four days after Ferraro was named vice presidential candidate, Governor Mario Cuomo of New York opened the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco with an impassioned retort to Republican President Ronald Reagan's contention that the United States was a "shining city on a hill." Citing widespread poverty and racial strife, Cuomo derided President Reagan as oblivious to the needs and problems of many of America's citizens. His enthusiastic keynote address inaugurated a convention that saw Ferraro become the first woman nominated by a major party for the vice presidency. However, Mondale, the former U.S. vice president under Jimmy Carter, proved a lackluster choice for the Democratic presidential nominee. On November 6, President Reagan and Vice President George Bush defeated the Mondale-Ferraro ticket in the greatest Republican landslide in U.S. history. The Republicans carried every state but Minnesota--Mondale's home state. Ferraro left Congress in 1985. In 1992 and 1998, she was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. During President Bill Clinton's administration, she was a permanent member on the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Birthday Board: July 12 1730 - Josiah Wedgewood (pottery designer and manufacturer) 1817 - Henry David Thoreau (philosopher, writer: On Walden Pond) 1854 - George Eastman (inventor: Kodak camera; flexible roll film) 1861 - George Washington Carver (botanist: developed multiple uses for peanuts and sweet potatoes) 1895 - Oscar Hammerstein II (lyricist, songwriter w/Richard Rodgers: Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, Flower Drum Song, Sound of Music) 1908 - Milton Berle (Berlinger) (comedian: Uncle Miltie, Mr. Television: The Milton Berle Show, Texaco Star Theatre; actor: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Oscar, Side by Side) 1917 - Andrew Wyeth (artist: the Helga pictures, Christina's World) 1927 - Conte (Secondo) Candoli (musician: trumpet: bandleader; toured with Stan Kenton et al.; with brother Pete in film: Bell Book and Candle) 1932 - Otis Davis (track) 1934 - Van (Harvey Lavan) Cliburn (piano virtuoso) 1937 - Bill Cosby (Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor: I Spy [1965-66; 1966-67, 1967-68], The Bill Cosby Special [1968-69]; The Cosby Show, Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids, Leonard VI, California Suite) 1943 - Christine Perfect McVie (musician, singer: group: Fleetwood Mac: Got a Hold on Me, Dreams, Don't Stop Thinking about Tomorrow) 1944 - Denise Nicholas (actress: Room 222, In the Heat of the Night, Ghost Dad) 1948 - Richard Simmons (weight loss expert, entertainer: Sweatin' to the Oldies) 1949 - Donnie Green (football) 1949 - Charlie Weaver (football) 1949 - John Wetton (musician: bassist, singer: group: Asia: Heat of the Moment, Only Time Will Tell) 1950 - Gilles Meloche (hockey) 1971 - Kristi Yamaguchi (Olympic gold medalist: figure skater [1992]; U.S. and world champion [1992]) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chart Toppers: July 12 1958 - Hard Headed Woman - Elvis Presley Yakety Yak - The Coasters Splish Splash - Bobby Darin Guess Things Happen That Way - Johnny Cash 1966 - Paperback Writer - The Beatles Red Rubber Ball - The Cyrkle Hanky Panky - Tommy James and The Shondells You Don't Have to Say You Love Me - Dusty Springfield 1974 - Rock the Boat - The Hues Corporation Rock Your Baby - George McCrae Hollywood Swinging - Kool & The Gang He Thinks I Still Care - Anne Murray 1982 - Don't You Want Me - The Human League Hurts So Good - John Cougar Eye of the Tiger - Survivor Don't Worry 'Bout Me Baby - Janie Frickie |
