Re: The nostalgia thread or "Do you remember?" or All things old.

Speaking of nostalgia, I got to experience it quite a bit today while we disposed a whole 20 ft long construction dumpster's worth of old school district computers. I was in a quite nostalgic mood so I picked up a Macintosh Classic and brought it home to save it from the junkyard. We also tossed (literally) a bunch of "Power PC" Macs and Mac IIC's and there was even an Apple IIE with integrated keyboard.

I think it was spelled Voltron if I'm not mistaken. I think I still have parts of that upstairs in my attic. It was basically a cartoon version if Power Rangers. You can even go on to write a paper how film technolgy has changed so much over 10 years between the 80's and 90's based on those two shows alone.

Re: The nostalgia thread or "Do you remember?" or All things old.

i was in the grocery store with my friend the other day (loooong story ... ) and i randomly go "remember Gushers .. and Dunkaroos .. and Soda-licious .. whatever happened to them ??" and later .. we found them .. i was so happy to find out they still make them .. they were some of the best candies ever ... even though my mom wouldnt let me have them ...

on a random note .. when we found them i go "wow .. everything in this aisle is so old-school ... except for all this new stuff .. "

Me, being a ripe age of sixteen, what's old-school for me is showing me work in science class. (no, that is NOT a typo) It may also have something to do with my geekiness...

Dude, I remember number munchers!

We had these Apple IIs back in the early part of elementary school (actually, now that I think of it, Harbison West only switched out those computers to IBMs the year after I left for middle school), and I remember the first time that I played.

This kid in my class who was a pain was sitting near me, and I was reading the instructions (a habit I would later shake). He then mashed the start button for me, so here I was in this really weird grid with no idea what I'm doing!

Welcome to my world.

Number munchers...oh god, I may be young, but I love number munchers. We are thinking of the same thing right? They made me so happy, I went and bought some discs. Almost as entertaining as Dance Dance Revolution. Speaking of old school, were y'all around when 1st mix came out? That makes me reminisce...

Ooh, I remember those. *Nostalgia* Power Rangers were the best thing ever, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Hungry Hungry Hippos? How could anybody forget them?

Or the Lego Space shuttle? First set I ever built, 1992, I built it outside, and it was on a table with crayons on it as well. Crayons + sun = shiney goo.

Mentioning crayons, remember when the 64-crayon box first came out? When there were 8 "mystery" colors that we got to name? I remember they had white wrappings and "name this color" on the side.

Yeah. In fact, I still have 4 out of 5 of those.

Speaking of old games: Sega Genesis (and the afforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog games)! I still play mine, although lately I've been weening myself towards using an emulator for it. I imagine some people here must have old Commodores, Ataris, and NESs.

I still have my NES and in fact after reading your post I went upstairs to where it is in the closet and saw what games I still have for it.

Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (this is the one that came with the unit I believe)
Rad Racer
Excite Bike
Spelunker
Top Gun
Football
Super Spike V' Ball
Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball

I want to kick myself now. I had more games but threw them away years ago because I wanted more space in the closet and decided to clean out. I still have all the paperwork, cables, the two controlers, and the gun for Duck Hunt for the NES also.

Apple IIs? I used to use one... Elementary school, an old k1 building. They may still use them...

Anyone get a Commorore? My dad had one, and when I was, like, 5, we used to play games on it. We only had 2. For the longest time we had the monitor lieing around. We finally tossed it when we moved.

Re: The nostalgia thread or "Do you remember?" or All things old.

I still have the NES too... Among the 20-ish games my brother got were: Mega Man 3, Kirby's Adventure, RBI Baseball (ah, yes, the waddling players who were bean-balled many times by my pitchers ), Pac-Man, Final Fantasy (off of which the webcomic 8-Bit Theater is based), Super Mario 3, and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (stupid dog...). Complete with the two controllers and Duck Hunt gun. Ack! Almost forgot... Bubble Bobble!

as for old TV shows... Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Ghost Writer (I had a pen on a string and a notebook like theirs and I think I still have a page or two in that notebook with "info" on "suspects"... yeah I was and still am a weird kid ), Dinosaurs!, TMNT, all those other cartoons based on comics like X-Men, Saved by the Bell, Sailor Moon (hate to admit it), all those DragonBall shows.

I think I still have my pogs... And after going through this thread, I recently pulled out my Pound Puppy and started carrying it around the house again. Koosh balls were cooooool... Still got a couple of those too I think. Packrat-ing is fun. Used to have Kid Pix but I fear that it's been trashed. Ooh and MAD Magazine was cool. Anyone like/play Clue, the board game? Or Clue Jr...

Do they still make Cracker Jacks? I don't see them around anymore... T-T There were Squeeze-Its too. Hm... Anyone else feel old now?
