Re: UTC New England Scrimage

Our bumpers help up very nicely, in fact, they still look like new!

I'm down with that then.

In that case: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...2&postcount=11 for my semi-conclusive report of the scrimmage in 2006!

Re: UTC New England Scrimage

I didn't get to make it, stuck in grad school all day

Feedback from my teammates has me quite curious about how the game plays out however. I thought it would be defensive and low goals but geez!

Anyone have good pictures of the bots posted (Elgin looking at you). I'm not sure what my team has for video of the other bots.

Pete

Re: UTC New England Scrimage

Gameplay for 2006:

From the observations I made, teamwork will and awareness will be key this year.
1. You need to pay attention to the period and other positions of bots on the field so you don't go offsides and cost your team many valuable points.
2. When teams work together with blocking and shooting... things happen. Shooters can be blocked, but shooters can also be effective. It is just a matter of working with the team to plan on defending the oponents shooters and opening opertunities for your own shooters.

As for points, it will vary highly on the alliances. If all the aliances just try and shoot little blocking, it could be a very high scoring game. With heavy defense, every 1 point ball counts.

Re: UTC New England Scrimage

This game seems very strategy intensive as some of y'all have noticed, varying greatly with tems. While the 3 pointer is valuable, any alliance which focuses on the 3 poitn shooter thats best and forgets about the ones that score on the 1pt areas can pay dearly(lose the match).

Definitely going to be a strong drivetrain year, and frame as any teams trying to get on the ramp slowly seem to be in trouble with a lot tipping yesterday.

Exciting game though, and hopefully even more so as FIRST gets some prominent real time scoring going. That was definitely the hardest part as a spectator, keeping up with the score but i was surprised at the speed with which results were decided especially in the one point diffrence matches so good job to all the ref's and sponsoring teams for that and the great venue.
