Coach on team #419, Rambots, from UMass Boston / BC High and NONE AT THE MOMENT! .



Robots A, B, C and D on the playing field.

A can go under the bar and pull and push 2 goals.

B needs the bridge but can pick up 2 big balls on it own. It uses its arms to pull the bridge down.

C needs the bridge as well and can pull and push 2 goals.

D neesd the bridge and has one big arm for picking up balls (1 at a time) and uses the same mechanism to push 1 goal onto the bridge to balance it.

robot A and C have the same function but the one that goes over the bridge does it a little faster than the smaller robot that can go under.

Robot D takes them 15secs to put a ball on top of the goal, while Robot B takes 25 secs to put both balls on both goals.

In this case, I cannot see how B can deposit 2 big balls without having some kind of mechanism to hold both goals too. But oh well...you have two "bridge-lowerers" so its the limbo bot that is unnecessary here. A goes on the stretcher. Now, this one is a little more tricky than the last two...here goes:

D takes the bridge first, with B lowering it back to the near side and following RIGHT afterward. D heads for a big ball and begins its trek back to the near side. B heads for a big ball and begins to deposit in the far goal. C grabs the near goal and pushes it to alliance station. Then it grabs the stretcher and waits for D's return. Now, adding in the time factor...
Let's assume that D can go to the other side of the field in 15 sec., takes 5 sec. to grab onto the big ball, and comes back in 10 sec. (with ball).
After waiting 7 or so seconds for D at the halfway point, B then crosses and gets to the other side of the field in 8 sec (from bridge). It then takes 5 sec. to grab onto ONE ball and the remaining 10 sec. to begin raising it.
Let's say that C pushes the goal back to the alliance station in 10 sec. and it gets filled in 20 sec. (which should actually be closer to 15 but that's okay). In that 20 sec., C grabs onto the stretcher and is now waiting near the bridge (but not in the way of anyone). 30 sec. have passed by...

C then takes the stretcher over the bridge and into the endzone. From the halfway point of the field, let's say that takes 15 sec. for C to cross half the field and drop off the stretcher.
In that 15 sec. D should have deposited the big ball in the near goal (according to their ability) and B should have deposited the ball in the far goal (because it started 10 sec. ago.) 45 sec. have passed by...

D then takes its 8 sec. to get over the bridge (from alliance station) and 7 sec. to get to the endzone.
B is already in the endzone during this time and has stopped.
C takes the 5 sec. to grab the far goal, 5 sec. to begin moving toward the bridge (which should now be facing the far side because D crossed back over). And 5 more sec. to get over the bridge. 1 minute has passed by...

It then takes maybe 5 sec. to drive to alliance station (from halfway point), 5 sec. to grab onto goal (which is actually quite generous), and 10 sec. to align on the bridge. This leaves 9.999999999...sec. to balance and hit the stop button and get the 2x multiplier. If they can do it in that much time (and it is quite possible for a robot DESIGNED to do it) then the score would be:
10+10+10+10+10+10+15=75
75*4=300
300*2=600
They can take an additional 15 sec and balance in 24.999999...sec. (which is even more feasible) and get:
300*1.5=450

All in all, my main strategy from these 5 scenarios hasn't changed much. In this round, the time factor kinda made 'bots much faster than they should be, but also gave a little space when grabbing goals etc. In all these situations, there have been two big-ballers. But imagine if you didn't have any...

Just my personal thoughts...
