Preseason project

I just got back from the first meeting of the preseason and found out what our project is...I think it's pretty cool. We got a grant to develop an agricultural version of a FIRST project called FARMbots. This is a multi-year project and this is the first year. Here is the goal for the next couple of years...

Year 1:

Modify this John Deere SST16 so that it will drive into a field with added sprayers down, go a distance, raise the sprayers, do a 180, lower sprayers, and return back. We will be modifying it to do this with or without an operator.

Year 2:

Either using the same John Deere or another tractor, modify it so that it will do an automated run, spraying a section of a field using GPS coordinants.

This thing is fun to drive....I'm looking forward to this project!

That's great. Applying what you learned from FIRST to make something that will help people in life. That is what FIRST is all about. I hope everything works for you.

Hrrm.... FIRST is about as far from automation as you can get... they are starting in the right direction, but they still don't give you much to work with...

Anyways, good luck on that project. It sounds like a lot of fun.
