NASA Robotics for Research and Exploration

I'm breaking a forum rule to do this, but I think this is worth it. Please continue discussion here.

An announcement from NASA:

NASA Robotics for Research and Exploration

Become a part of NASA science and engineering like never before!
In just a few weeks NASA will begin one of it's most exciting
educational outreach progams yet, and they want FIRST students to get
involved. Begining September 29th, and running until October 15th,
NASA will broadcast a series of eight lectures online live from Rio
Tinto, Spain. For the past year NASA has been working in conjunction
with INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnica Aerospacial) to research and
test equipment that will be used on robots being sent to Mars in
2009. This part of Spain has been found to be an analog of Mars due
to it's unique biology and geology. During this three week period,
scientists and engineers will be drilling and testing in this site in
preparation for testing the actual robots next few years.
So how can you get involved? NASA will broadcast eight lectures
from the test site, in both Spanish and English, on topics ranging
from astrobiology to robotic drilling and remote searches for life.
Students can participate by either enrolling in a class worth 1 unit
of credit from San Jose State University or simply by watching along.
The first 100 students who enroll in the class will only have to pay
20% of the registration fees, courtesty of NASA. Those who do enroll
in the class will have to take an exam at the end of the three weeks
and write a 2 page essay. They will also be able to participate in a
live chatroom with the lecturers. If you would like more information
about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity visit the website at:
