breaking boxes

i couldn't find any mention in the rules, but what happens when a box gets broken? i saw a couple of forums where teams said the boxes break very easily, and one were first said they expected a lot of boxes to break during the competition....

do broken boxes count as boxes? if not, a team could go over, slam their stacker down on a box or two to mess up the score, and then just leave....
and if a broken box is put on a stack, will that mess up FIRST's beloved SHUs?
