Q&A Discuss: Practice sessions?

Practice sessions?
Quote:
I've looked through the rules and team updates, and can't find any description of how the practice sessions are structured.

For example, does each team get a chunk of time with exclusive access to the field? Or is it shared field time? (And if so, with whom?) Does it include auton mode time? What level of control do the teams have during practice? (For example, can they run through multiple auton scenarios during a practice session? Do they have ability to manually enable/disable auton mode?) Can the human players run through their part multiple times? Will the team be able to stop a practice session, enter the playing field to make robot adjustments, then resume practice?

Is practice structured the same at all regionals, (we'll be at Cleveland), or does it vary from regional to regional (based upon number of participants, etc)?

Thanks for the pointer to team update #10 - I went backward from 19 to 11, then stopped looking (of course).

It still doesn't make a number of things crystal clear though...

Is it exclusive field time, or is it shared? -- The use of the term "practice matches" in the explanation implies this is shared time; who is it shared with? (Alliance partners? random?)

"The autonomous period would actually be initiated from the control console at the scorer's table." -- So from the viewpoint of the RC, will we see the same sequence of comp_mode and auton_mode bits as documented in Team Update #11?

Thanks!

It will be just like the normal rounds in that you will be randomly paired with one other team and be randomly matched against two other randomly paired teams.

The RC won't know the difference between practice and regular. Therefore, if your autonomous programs work in normal matches, they should work in practice and vice-versa.

The best way to think of it is that you play two normal matches back-to-back. The only difference is that for the practice you will be with the same people both "matches".
