hey 1089

i thought you guys were real good, i was surprised you all didnt get the rookie allstar award, you were my pick,

as for your robot i thought it was really really well built, your frame also looked very familiar and tough.

i was a little surprised to see all of you so disappointed at the end of sat. you guys did amazingly well for a rookie team at such an experienced regional . i mean wow you guys made it to the semi's. some verterans couldnt even do that. to be able to make such a stride like that in your first year is remarkable, if i were you guys iwould have been jumping with joy.
you guys did really well and should take pride in your efforts.

I think it was the immediate disappointment that bummed us out because we had our hearts set on winning that award. People had kept coming to us throughout the regional saying "you guys got RAS, you got RAS for sure". And for all of the help that we were giving other teams (particularly the Brazilians on 1156), and the way we had associated with the other teams, we thought that we were showing a lot of gracious professionialism. In fact, after Friday night, the Brazil team even offered us their RAS trophy because we had helped them a lot and they thought we deserved it. So all of these positive vibes kind of caused us to get our hopes up. After all that, when we didn't win it, we were a bit disappointed.

After reflecting back on all of the events of the weekend as a whole, our attitudes raised a bit before we set out for home. We are VERY proud of our accomplishments considering what we've been through. We made some new friends, got some GREAT publicity, and really got to soak in what FIRST is really all about.

We're already planning on attending a few off-season events, as well as possibly hosting a ... shall we say... "different" event of our own.

This has been a great, exciting learning experience for us. Expect to see more from us next year!

oh, and yes, I liked our robot

yeah! That'd be great! We did trade two shirts to your engineers, but when we get more, I'd love to trade some more with you and other teams.

We'll work something out if you decide to do an off-season event with us!

Thanks for the comments, folks.

Your bot was amazing--It was pushing around some of the most seasoned veterans and did so with ease. 1089 got farther into the finals than any of the other 4 rookie teams at the regional, and that is definitely something to be proud of. I know you guys are going to come back with an even better bot to show even more gracious professionalism, and perhaps even bring something home. I'm looking forward to playing with you in any of the off-season competitions. You definitely have something to be proud of. Congratulations.
