Simple question for blog/livejournal/etc users..

If you were able to have any features you wanted in a web journal, what would they be? In the middle of some "market research" for future use. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Examples, to start things off:
  • Option of HTML.
  • Integration of current Listen-To.
  • Allow/Prevent Comments.
  • Template system for easy customization.
  • Search entries/comments.
  • "Moods:" happy, sad, whatever.
  • Categorize entries.

I think you got most of the standard features.

Maybe the ability to add sub-users to post in your blog. I think movable type has that feature.

how about spell checker ?

also it would be nice for the thing to have an ability to post easily without opening up a web browser; this probably by way of some software; maybe a bar type of thing or a quick lunch icon that would allow you to quickly post something

..'eventually' i will be making another style for pubarso.com, and i will be providing the user with the opportunity to switch styles. You should maybe give that as an option for people. Allow them to define multiple styles that the person surfing can choose from and set via cookie, so that when they return they are still viewing their selected style.

Yeah, its a lot of work, but you asked for ideas.

Alot of work? lol. I don't want this to be easy. That would defeat the whole purpose, lol.

Additions to my list:
  • Sub users.
  • Spellcheck.
  • IE toolbar/Mozilla|Opera Sidebar OR software for easy access to submitting entries.
  • Multiple Styles (with option of allowing user to switch).

-What about having a link to your friends journal's in your journal?

-Being able to add a picture gallery to show off some of the stuff your writing about

Thats all I can think of for now.

well, alot of friends have live journals or deadjournals. I would say have the option to add friends to thse various journals. You can get RSS feeds from them which includes links to the posts, and a little of the post itself.
