Go to Post Incidentally, this is a good example of why lawyering the FIRST rules is good practice for the real world. By critically analyzing FIRST's errors, you practice for the day when you need to critically analyze legislators' errors (and deliberate trickery). - Tristan Lall [more]

FIRST Blast: Championship Registration Opens for tier 2 teams on November 5th!!

Greetings Teams:

As planned, Championship registration will be opened to teams in tier 2 at 12:00 EST on November 5, 2003. The number of teams currently registered for one or more regional events exceeds the available openings for the Championship. Therefore, FIRST is using a lottery system to allocate the available openings.

All tier 2 teams have been randomly divided into ten groups. At the current time, half of these teams (e.g., groups 1-5 ) are eligible to register for the Championship on November 5. Please review the list below to see if your team is one of the eligible teams. FIRST will monitor the event registration and open the event to the additional groups (i.e., groups 6-10 in ascending order) until the available openings are full. We are holding positions for those teams that will qualify during the 2004 season.

After November 5, FIRST cannot guarantee a position to teams in tiers 3 through 6 that have not registered. As the event fills, openings will be on a first come first served basis.
